Leafs Trade Kris Versteeg

Well as speculated, Kris Versteeg of the Toronto Maple Leafs was moved. The Philadelphia  Flyers picked  up Versteeg and added what they think, could just be the last major piece of a Stanley cup team. Vesteeg was a major part of the cup winning Black Halk's last season. That being said, why didn't he fit in Toronto? Versteeg started the season out right where he left off last season, trying to make a big impact. That's why I feel he didn't impress GM Brian Burke. Trying to do to much can be a major problem in such a team oriented game. Versteeg had a Stanly cup caliber team in Chicago. Hence why his services were so beneficial for the Halks. On the 3rd line, the well rounded Versteegs skills were an asset. The Flyers are a perfect fit having Carter, Richards and Briere hosting the first two lines.  The Flyers only gave up 2 draft picks, a 1st and a 3rd round. If their goal tending isn't a problem, and they figure out the cap issues, the Flyers early move may boost them  to the Stanley cup, after last years run.  GM Brain Burke wasn't shy saying "the 3rd rounder is in play, we are not  fore-fitting the post season" Leading me to believe the Leafs GM is looking somewhere in the direction of Ales Hemsky. The leafs  also picked up forward Aaron Voros, from the Ducks, for a 7th rd conditional pick (only seeing the leafs lose the pick if they re-sign Voros). Look for the leafs to be involved in another blockbuster deal in the coming days. My game to watch tonight will be the Maple Leafs vs Boston Bruins. With all the trade talks swirling around the leafs dressing room, and the recent movements (Beauchuman, Versteeg), the leafs should play somewhat of an auditioning roll for GM Brian Burke, the young team will be lead by the strong play of rookie goalie James Rimer. With the injuries to both Giggy and The Monster it has given the young Toronto prospect a stage to show his strong goalie presence. The AHL is  less structured then the NHL, which could be the reason the young goalie has had such success in the systematic play of the NHL. The guy just understands hockey and that's why I like James Rimer for the future of the maple leafs. In other news Atlanta Thrasher just signed defense man Dustin Byfuglien for  five years, approx $25-$26 million, solidifying their back end.
