Hockeymans Feb 11 recap

Crazy night in the NHL from the Pittsburgh beat down to seeing New Jersey continue their winning streak against the hot San Jose sharks, with Nemmi leading the way. To start off first the Calgary Flames taking on the Ducks. The Ducks Teemu Selanne took charge scoring a goal and adding 3 helpers with a 5-4 win in overtime. Jason Blake of the Ducks also had a strong night on and off the puck sharing 2 assists and taking 4 shots on goal. The flames had a very sloppy night with the puck but still managed to get a point in the overtime thriller. With the penguins away from home, down Malkin  and Crosby, the Islanders were looking to take advantage, and take advantage they did in every aspect of the game. There was even a line brawl to boot. With a game only 9 games earlier that saw goalie Brent Johnson KO islanders goalie Dipietro and shut out 3-0, the isle got off to a fast start scoring 4 goals in the first and 4 goals in the second period  In the third, is when the isle tried to get goalie Brent  Johnson back as he calmly skated to the blue line in anticipation for New York's tender to make his way. He was greeted instead by new York's tough guy Micheal Haley charging towards him, they dropped the gloves and started to throw punches when Pittsburgh Eric Godard jumped the board in his goalies defense resulting in an automatic 10 game suspension. There was also a  major #HEADSHOT  in the third given to Pittsburgh Eric Tangradi that will be reviewed by the NHL. Marty Turo was back in Dallas and feeling the heat seeing his old team take them to overtime and beat them in the shoot. Chicagos Patrick Sharp missed all his shootout attempt, while all the stars shooters scored stick side,  hinting that the Dallas shooters knew the net minders week spots. Rich Nash is back on a hot streak netting a goal and an assist in a 3-1 victory that saw Peter Foresbeg make his NHL return in a very quite night for the former all-star.
Tonights MVP go to Ilya kovalchuk of the New Jersey devils and the Blue Jackets Rich Nash. Both players were involved on the score sheet and in the defensive battles. Ilya showed just how dangerous he can be wining the game late in the third, and feeding forward line mate Brian Rolston for a one-timer goal .
