Hockey day in Canada

Today is a big day for hockey in Canada, its a day where all Canadians gather around the TV and get an all day fix of the game we love. There are 3 big games involving all 6 Canadian teams. The first game gets underway at 2:00pm central time where the Ottawa senators will head to Edmonton for a bottom feeder game. Both team have been struggling coming in to this game with Ottawa looking to break an 11 game losing streak. With Mike Fisher being traded to Nashville the sens will be looking for their big guns Spezza and Alfy to spark the flame early against a young Edmonton team who are also struggling loosing 5 out of their last 6 games. My prediction for this game will be to see Ottawa break their losing streak and take advantage of the young Edmonton team, Chris Neil should have a big impact on this game. Later on @ 7:00pm the Toronto Maple Leafs will get on the bus and head up to Montreal for what could be the biggest rivalry in all of sports. Coming out of  the all-star break the maple leaf have looked like a different team seeing them get points in all three games they have played. After losing a hard fought game on home ice to the hot New Jersy Devils the Maple Leafs can take a lot of positives from that game . Phill Kessel hasn't scored in while, but his play as of late has been excellent. He has been battling for loose pucks and getting plenty of shots on net. The newly acquired Joffery Lupel and his new line mate Clarke Macarther joked about Lupel needing shoulder surgery in the off season because he will be feeding him one timers all night long , so look for that line to light up the light tonight in Montreal. The Habs were involved in a wild battle with what is also another big rivalry  with the Boston Bruins. In that game the Montreal Canadians got beat up which could affect them in both a positive and negative way. Having stood up for one another on the ice, this could bring them closer as a group and you could see a dominating game, where they dismiss of the maple leafs early and often. On the other side they got physically beat up and if the Maple Leafs come hard early, take the body and bully them, you could see the Canadians give up on goalie  Price, and fold like a book..I see the leafs wining this one 4-2. Then if you already haven't had enough hockey there is  the game that's worth staying up for. The Calgary Flames head to Vancouver to take on  Luongo and the Canuck's. Luongo is almost unbeatable on home ice with an outstanding record. With all the fire power up front from the Sedin's to Alex Burrows there is no surprise that they are atop the NHL standings. Daniel Sedin took the points lead from Tampa's Steven Stamkos, and isn't looking like hes going to slow down. With the loss to the Ducks, the Canuck's will look to get out in front of the flames who are also hot riding a 10 game point streak. Mikka Kiprusoff has also been playing well and getting lots of scoring support from their top lines. This game could go either way but I'll guess that both teams will play a defensive game and both goalies will have impressive games. Lets say 2-1 Vancouver. Hope you enjoyed my thoughts.
